The Beyond Sports Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that uses the power of sport to transform lives by turning athletic ability into life opportunity. The Beyond Sports Foundation prepares student athletes to succeed in life. Our student athletes typically come from under-resourced families in under-served communities, and will need financial assistance in order to attend college. Many of our student athletes are from populations that are under-represented on college campuses.

The Beyond Sports Foundation will now be accepting applications through January 9th 2015. Formal interviews and acceptance decisions will be finalized in March, 2015. Upon acceptance into the program, Beyond Sports student-athletes will begin programming in April, 2015.

The Beyond Sports Foundation seeks rising freshmen and sophomores with the following qualities:

● Enrolled as a full-time high school student with an upstanding attendance record

Services provided to each student-athlete are described in the four following areas:

• Academic Development: An advanced and proven educational model leveraging academic tutoring. Individualized weekly tutoring and monitoring of academic progress. A comprehensive ACT tutoring program is also provided.

Dynamic and progressive “Head Football Coach” that can take the second largest CPS High School and win the IHSA State Championship. The coach must have a proven record of success and be able attract the highest quality assistant coaches as well as players. This coach should have an extensive knowledge of current college offensive and defensive schemes and be able to implement a consistent winning strategy that will result in a perennial powerhouse football program.

Description

The varsity coach is the administrator of all aspects and levels of his/her program. The coach will be responsible to the athletic director and principal.

Qualifications

-Illinois Teaching License or ASEP (American Sport Education Program) Certified
-Football knowledge/coaching experience
-Ability to supervise and motivate student athletes.
-Knowledge of IHSA and CPS rules and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Be responsible for care, maintenance, inventory, and ordering of all equipment and supplies unique to their sport.
-Develop a program of strategies to link all levels of his/her sport.
-Supervise assistant coaches in their sport.
-Pursue professional enrichment for him/herself and assistant coaches in his/her sport.
-Arrange for support personnel to assist in the execution of their sport. Support personnel includes managers, statisticians, scorers, clock operators, etc.
-Plan for the supervision of athletes when they are in his/her care.
-Maintain an organized record of statistics for his/her sport.
-Be responsible for the care and order of facilities used for his/her sport. Facilities include the locker room, gymnasium, weight room, store room, etc.
-Verify the eligibility of athletes in his/her sport prior to the first day of practice (academic, physical, concussion form, etc.).
-Attend CPS and IHSA coaches meetings
-Work with the Athletic Director in the following areas:
a. Organization of a Parent Pre-season meeting
b. Daily practice schedule
c. Game scheduling
d. Equipment/Uniforms
e. Transportation
f. Fundraising
g. Aid in selection of lower level and assistant coaches
h. Preparation and promotion of athletes for a post high school experience

Chicago Christian is a 96 year old Christian high school located on the southwest side of Chicago in Palos Heights, IL. The football program competes in the east division of the Metro Suburban Conference and in class 2A for the Illinois High School Association. We have been rebuilding the program for the last few years and have seen growth from an 0-9 season in 2011, to 2-7 in 2012 and 2013, to 4-5 in 2014. We are looking for our next coach to lead us back to playoffs, a goal achieved 9 straight years from 2000-2008.
The minimum requirements for the position are:
1. A strong Christian commitment
2. At least 5 years of coaching experience at the high school level or higher
3. PE state certified teacher, with emphasis on strength training and fitness
In addition to the minimum requirements, we are looking for a passionate and energetic candidate who has strong leadership skills and character that can develop student athletes through building strong personal relationships. Responsibilities of the head varsity football coach include oversight of the entire football program, off season weight room management and hosting summer camps. The head varsity football coach reports directly to the athletic director.
