IADA Announcements | | 7/19/2010 | John VanFleet to recive Frank Kovoleski National Award
We recently recieved confirmation from the NIAAA that John VanFleet will be the national Frank Kovoleski Award winner this year.
FRANK KOVALESKI PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AWARD was established by the NIAAA Board of Directors at the recommendation of the Awards Committee in 2007 is presented to a recipient who possesses and has contributed to the vision of Professional Development – the legacy of Frank Kovaleski. Frank was instrumental in the creation of the Leadership Training Program and the expansion of the Certification Program of the NIAAA. The Frank Kovaleski Award is presented annually to an NIAAA member who has made significant contributions and demonstrated excellence in professional development at the local, state and national levels
Congratulations to John on his honor. Well deserved. John is only the 4th person in teh coutry to win this award. Start making your plans now for the NIAAA banquet in Orlando.
| | 5/17/2010 | PA ANNOUNCER CLINIC 2010 AT NAPERVILLE NORTH & BLOOMINGTON HIGH SCHOOLS
In conjunction with the NIAAA, IHSA and the IADA, Naperville North and Bloomington High Schools will be hosting a Public address announcer clinic again this summer. Naperville North will host the clinic on Saturday, July 31st, from 9am until Noon in their high school auditorium.. Jim Riebandt, who is the Bears’ stadium announcer, has agreed to be the clinician. The following week Bloomington High School will host on Saturday, August 7, also from 9am until Noon. Mike Koon, the public address announcer for the University of Illinois, will be the clinician.
This clinic will be brought to you by the National Association of Sport Public Address Announcers. This clinic is open to your announcer and student announcers as well. The clinic will be focusing on football announcing, but tips from this clinic can be applied to other sports as well. Below you will find a tentative time schedule for the day.
Cost will be $55 for early registration, $65 for late, $25 for early student, $35 for late student. People will be able to sign up through their website at www.naspaa.net
The IHSA will be present at this clinic as well to give their direction to announcers on how they can help with the IHSA message.
